Undelete files from Mac OS X after accidentally emptying Trash

Mac OS X is similar in many ways when compared to Windows operating system. However, there are some limitations and advantages that both these operating systems have. The Recycle bin in Windows and Trash on Mac play an important role when it comes to deletion of a file. These are the locations when a file goes and resides immediately after it is deleted, especially when it is done using the “Delete” key. There are also methods using which you can make the deleted file bypass the Trash. This is an advanced way of deleting the files which can be done by using the Command + Delete keys combination.

Though deleting files by using the advanced method is rarely done by Mac users, deleting files from Trash is something that is commonly followed on a Mac machine. Like the "Restore" command in Windows there is an option called "Put Back" in Mac that lets users restore the deleted files back to their original location. However, files deleted from Trash can be recovered only with the help of a good Mac recovery software. This is the same if the files have been deleted using the Command + Delete keys combination.

The method to undelete files from Mac OS X differs a lot from how it is done on Windows. In Mac you can undelete files only if it has journaled volumes. If the volumes are not journaled, it is not possible to recover deleted files on Mac. The deleted files can be recovered using Remo Recover (Mac) software, which is a powerful Mac file recovery tool capable of recovering deleted files from HFS+ and HFSX volumes on Mac OS X.
